If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son—The Hebrew ben sorer u-moreh ("stubborn and rebellious son") describes persistent, incorrigible defiance, not childhood disobedience. Sorer derives from sur (to turn aside, rebel), while moreh means contentious, rebellious.
