Book of John

Overview

John presents Jesus as the divine Son of God, using seven signs and seven "I am" statements to demonstrate His deity and the promise of eternal life through belief in Him.

Purpose

That readers may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing they may have life in His name.

Historical Context

Written late in the first century to supplement the other Gospels and combat early heresies about Christ's nature.
