I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other—Jesus delivers the shocking verdict. Dedikaiōmenos (δεδικαιωμένος) means 'declared righteous,' the same justification language Paul uses (Romans 3-5). The tax collector, not the Pharisee, received God's favorable verdict.
