And Micah said unto him, Dwell with me, and be unto me a father and a priest, and I will give thee ten shekels of silver by the year, and a suit of apparel, and thy victuals. This verse reveals the complete commercialization of sacred office. Micah's offer—"Dwell with me, and be unto me a father and a priest"—inverts the proper order. The Levite should serve God and minister to God's people, not serve as Micah's private chaplain.
