I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun—the Preacher turns from judicial corruption (3:16) to systematic oppression. The Hebrew ashukkim (עֲשׁוּקִים, oppressions) describes exploitation, extortion, violent injustice perpetrated by the powerful.
