The Lord GOD hath sworn by himself (נִשְׁבַּע אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה בְּנַפְשׁוֹ, nishba Adonai YHWH b'nafsho, literally 'sworn by His soul/life')—when God swears by Himself, the oath is irrevocable (Hebrews 6:13-18).
