And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah—the sha'ar Binyamin (שַׁעַר בִּנְיָמִן, gate of Benjamin) was Jerusalem's northern gate leading toward Benjamin territory. The ba'al pekudah (בַּעַל פְּקֻדָּה, captain of the ward) was a sentry officer responsible for monitoring traffic.
