I saw the Lord standing upon the altar (רָאִיתִי אֶת־אֲדֹנָי נִצָּב עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּחַ)—Amos's fifth and final vision shows Yahweh Himself standing al ha-mizbeach (upon the altar), likely the idolatrous altar at Bethel where Israel corrupted worship.
