Thus saith the LORD; Behold, waters rise up out of the north (כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה הִנֵּה־מַיִם עֹלִים מִצָּפוֹן)—The mayim olim (rising waters) metaphor depicts Babylonian invasion as an unstoppable flood.
