Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel—Jeremiah's message begins with Yahweh's covenant name and His relationship to Israel. The double identification (YHWH Elohei Yisrael, יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל) emphasizes that despite judgment, God remains Israel's covenant God.
