Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words. The emphatic they were not afraid (lo pachadu, לֹא פָחֲדוּ) and nor rent their garments (lo qare'u et-bigdehhem, לֹא קָרְעוּ אֶת־בִּגְדֵיהֶם) presents a damning contrast to Josiah's response when Shaphan read the Book of the Law.
