James 4:16 (KJV)
Commentary on James 4:16
But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. You boast (kauchasthai, καυχᾶσθαι) in arrogance (alazoneiais, ἀλαζονείαις); all such boasting is evil. Prideful self-confidence in business or life offends God.Reformed theology condemns boasting in anything but the cross (Galatians 6:14). James addresses practical boasting that ignores dependence on grace.
