Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry (הִתְמַהְמְהוּ וּתְמָהוּ הִשְׁתַּעַשְׁעוּ וָשֹׁעוּ, hitmahmehu utmahu hishta'ash'u vasho'u)—a cascade of imperatives calling for astonishment and dismay. The verb מהה (mahah) means to delay, linger in stunned amazement.
