For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. Paul now contrasts the blessing of faith (v. 9) with the curse of Law-works. 'As many as are of the works of the law' (hosoi gar ex ergōn nomou, ὅσοι γὰρ ἐξ ἔργων νόμου)—those whose identity is grounded in Law-performance—'are under the curse' (hypo kataran eisin, ὑπὸ κατάραν εἰσιν): under the realm of cursing.
