Psalms 133:3 · KJV

Context

1

A Song of degrees of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! together: Heb. even together

2

It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;

3

As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

Commentary

KJV Study Commentary
As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion. For there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore. Hermon's dew refreshing Zion—northern abundance reaching southern scarcity supernaturally. For there (in unity) the LORD commanded the blessing. Not suggested but commanded. Unity brings supernatural blessing.

Historical & Cultural Context

Mount Hermon (9,200 ft) produces heavy dew. Zion (Jerusalem) is drier. Hermon's dew reaching Zion pictures impossible blessing—only God makes northern abundance reach south. Unity brings such blessing.

Reflection Questions

  1. How does dew imagery describe what unity produces?
  2. What does God "commanding" blessing where there's unity mean?
  3. How does Jesus's prayer (John 17:21-23) connect unity to evangelism?
