The essence of God is pure spirit, infinite in being and perfection, wholly other than His creation. He subsists in three distinct persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who are co-equal and co-eternal in the one undivided divine essence. This unity of essence with distinction of persons is the incomprehensible mystery of the Holy Trinity.

Scripture References

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
