And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory—the purpose clause: God's ultimate aim is to display to ploutos tēs doxēs autou (τὸ πλοῦτος τῆς δόξης αὐτοῦ, 'the riches of his glory'). Skeuē eleous (σκεύη ἐλέους, 'vessels of mercy') contrasts with 'vessels of wrath' (v. 22).
