But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest's palace (Ὁ δὲ Πέτρος ἠκολούθει αὐτῷ ἀπὸ μακρόθεν ἕως τῆς αὐλῆς τοῦ ἀρχιερέως)—The imperfect ἠκολούθει ('was following') shows continued action—Peter didn't completely abandon Jesus.
