This verse pronounces judgment on the self-proclaimed wise: 'The wise men are ashamed' (boshu chakamim, בֹּשׁוּ חֲכָמִים). The Hebrew bosh (בּוֹשׁ) denotes public humiliation, disappointed expectation, and covenant curse.
