So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us—וַנָּצוּמָה וַנְּבַקְשָׁה (vanatzumah vanvaqeshah, so we fasted and we sought) are consecutive imperfects indicating completed actions: they did fast, they did seek.
