Read this verse in depth with cross-references and study notes
Jesus reorders our priorities, promising that when we seek God's kingdom first, everything else finds its proper place.
This verse comes after Jesus addresses anxiety about food and clothing. The cure for worry is not better planning but right priorities. When God's kingdom and righteousness are our primary pursuit, He ensures our material needs are met. This is not passive waiting but active seeking of God's rule in our lives.
Apply This Today
Before making decisions about time, money, or energy today, ask first: 'How does this serve God's kingdom and righteousness?'
Prayer
Lord Jesus, forgive me for putting my needs before Your kingdom. Reorder my priorities so that seeking You comes first, and help me trust that You will faithfully provide everything else I need. Amen.
