James 4:7
Read this verse in depth with cross-references and study notes
Victory in spiritual warfare follows a two-step pattern: submit to God, resist the devil.
Submission comes before resistance. We must first yield ourselves completely to God's authority and will. From that position of surrender to God, we have the authority to resist the devil, and he must flee. Resistance without submission is powerless, but submission that leads to resistance is victorious. The devil cannot stand against a believer who is fully submitted to God.
Apply This Today
Practice both today: actively submit an area of your life to God, then boldly resist any demonic influence with the authority that submission provides.
Prayer
Father, I submit myself completely to You. From this place of surrender, I resist the devil in Jesus' name, and I command him to flee. Amen.
