The LORD will cut off the man that doeth this, the master and the scholar—the Hebrew phrase עֵר וְעֹנֶה (er v'oneh) is cryptic, literally 'one who rouses and one who answers,' possibly meaning teacher and student, or perhaps a merism for every man regardless of status.
