Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah: and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the LORD. This verse introduces Baruch ben Neriah, Jeremiah's faithful scribe and companion. The name Baruch (בָּרוּךְ) means 'blessed,' while Neriah (נֵרִיָּה) means 'lamp of Yahweh.'
