I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them. Continuing animal metaphors (13:7), God compares Himself to most dangerous beast - bear robbed of cubs (1 Samuel 17:8, 2 Samuel 17:8, Proverbs 17:12). Will rend caul (covering) of heart - exposing/destroying innermost being. Then lion devouring and wild beasts tearing complete the violent imagery.
