Commentary
Ellicott’s Commentary for English Readers(26) **Atarah.**—The word means *corona,* here and in 1Chronicles 2:54; probably, the ring-fence or fortifications round a city. So στέφανος was used in Greek (Pindar, *Olymp. viii.* 42, of the wall of Troy). The plural Ataroth occurs as the name of a town in Numbers 32:3; Joshua 16:5.
