Christ gave Himself to redeem us from all wickedness and purify us for Himself.
Jesus' self-giving was purposeful: to redeem us from lawlessness and to create a people purified and eager for good works. Our freedom is not an end in itself but a means to becoming God's treasured possession, transformed and devoted to doing good. Freedom leads to holiness and purpose.
