God promised to rain bread from heaven for Israel, providing a daily portion to test their obedience and trust.
The manna came each morning - no more, no less than needed for that day. God could have provided a week's worth at once, but daily provision required daily dependence. This tested whether Israel would trust God for tomorrow rather than hoarding for security. It's a pattern Jesus echoed in teaching us to pray for daily bread.
