They went up unto the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land (עַד־נַחַל אֶשְׁכּוֹל וַיִּרְאוּ אֶת־הָאָרֶץ)—Eshcol means 'cluster,' named for the enormous grape cluster the spies carried back (Numbers 13:23), visual proof of Canaan's richness.
