And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and throw down all thy strong holds. Following the removal of military equipment (v. 10), God promises to dismantle Israel's defensive infrastructure: "cities" (עָרֵי אַרְצֶךָ, arei artzekha) and "strong holds" (מִבְצָרִים, mivtzarim)—fortified places, military installations.
