They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them. Paul exposes the Judaizers' manipulative tactics. "They zealously affect you" (zēlousin hymas ou kalōs, ζηλοῦσιν ὑμᾶς οὐ καλῶς)—they court you, pursue you with zeal, but "not well" (ou kalōs)—not for good purpose. Zēloō can mean zealous pursuit or jealous competition.
