Read this verse in depth with cross-references and study notes

Even in the darkest valley, David found a reason not to fear—the presence and protection of the Good Shepherd.

The valley of the shadow of death represents our darkest moments, our most terrifying trials. Yet even there, we need not fear because God is with us. His rod defends us from enemies; His staff guides us through treacherous paths. Death itself becomes merely a shadow—real but ultimately powerless—when we walk with the Shepherd who conquered death.

Apply This Today

In whatever dark valley you may walk today, fix your eyes not on the shadows but on the Shepherd who walks beside you.

Prayer

Lord, my Shepherd, I will fear no evil in any valley because You are with me. Your rod and staff comfort and protect me. I trust You completely. Amen.
