Read this verse in depth with cross-references and study notes

God's goodness and mercy are timeless reasons to praise Him with grateful hearts.

This psalm begins with an imperative to praise and give thanks because of who God is. His goodness isn't occasional but constant; His mercy isn't temporary but enduring. These unchanging attributes mean we always have reason for thanksgiving. When we lose sight of God's character, we lose our gratitude, but remembering who He is restores our praise.
