The prophet declares his determination to rejoice in God even when external circumstances bring devastation.
Habakkuk lists the worst agricultural disasters imaginable—fig trees without fruit, empty vines, failed olive crops, barren fields, lost flocks. Yet he chooses joy not in spite of these circumstances but in the Lord Himself. His joy isn't dependent on what God gives but on who God is. This is Advent faith: trusting God's goodness even in the darkness, knowing that light is coming.
