The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me. After crying out (v. 4), the psalmist testifies to deliverance. The LORD preserveth the simple (shomer petaim Yahweh, שֹׁמֵר פְּתָאיִים יְהוָה). Shomer (שֹׁמֵר) means to guard, keep, preserve.
