And when the men of that place had knowledge of him (καὶ ἐπιγνόντες αὐτὸν οἱ ἄνδρες τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου)—The verb ἐπιγινώσκω (epiginōskō, 'to recognize, to know fully') indicates they didn't merely see a stranger but recognized Jesus specifically.
