And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them. Jesus begins His eschatological discourse with a warning: blepete mē planaōthēte (βλέπετε μὴ πλανηθῆτε, 'watch that you not be deceived'). The verb planaō (πλανάω) means 'lead astray,' 'deceive,' 'cause to wander.'
