And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Jesus provides a specific, observable sign for Jerusalem's imminent destruction—kykloumenēn hypo stratopedōn Ierousalēm (κυκλουμένην ὑπὸ στρατοπέδων Ἰερουσαλήμ, "Jerusalem being surrounded by armies").
