Though the root thereof wax old in the earth (יַזְקִין בָּאָרֶץ שָׁרְשׁוֹ, yazqin baaretz shorsho)—Job describes a tree whose root (שֹׁרֶשׁ, shoresh) grows old (זָקֵן, zaqen), seemingly dead.
