For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. Human wrath (orgē anthrōpou, ὀργὴ ἀνθρώπου) does not produce God's righteousness (dikaiosynēn, δικαιοσύνην). Anger might feel righteous, but James states bluntly that it fails to accomplish covenant justice.
