Biblical Biography

John was the son of Zebedee and the brother of James. He was one of the first disciples called by Jesus and became part of the inner circle along with Peter and James. Known as 'the disciple whom Jesus loved,' John was present at the Transfiguration, in Gethsemane, and at the foot of the cross where Jesus entrusted His mother Mary to John's care. He authored the Gospel of John, the epistles of 1-3 John, and the book of Revelation while in exile on the island of Patmos.
