The eternal Word didn't just visit earth—He became flesh and made His dwelling among us.
This verse describes the greatest miracle in history: God taking on human nature without ceasing to be God. The Word who created all things subjected Himself to the limitations of time, space, and human experience. We beheld His glory—not the glory of power and might that we expected, but the glory of grace and truth embodied in a person.
