Paul encouraged terrified sailors to be of good cheer because he believed God's promise.
Facing a deadly storm, Paul told the crew to have courage because he believed God's word to him. His trust wasn't based on improved circumstances but on God's promise. Faith produces courage even in life-threatening situations. When we believe God, we can face impossibilities with good cheer.
