Thou hast made us as the offscouring and refuse (סְחִי וּמָאוֹס תְּשִׂימֵנוּ, sechi uma'os tesimenu)—'Offscouring' (sechi) is scrapings, scum skimmed off; 'refuse' (ma'os) is rejected, despised.
